This 116-page file compiles records from the Armed Forces Special Weapons Program (the post-WWII successor to the Manhattan Project) and the U.S. Air Force concerning 209 sightings near Sandia, New Mexico between 1948 and 1950. Witnesses reported green orbs, discs, and fireballs maneuvering, vanishing, or exploding, and investigators examined residual copper powder found at some sighting sites. Several of these inquiries helped form the basis of Project Grudge.
This file contains 116 pages of documentation from the Armed Forces Special Weapons Program (AFSWP) — the direct post-World War II successor to the Manhattan Project — and from the U.S. Air Force, relating to a series of sightings and investigations at Sandia, New Mexico, between 1948 and 1950. The collection records 209 sightings near the military base, including "green orbs," "discs," and "fireballs."
Witnesses reported these unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) maneuvering, flying out of sight, disappearing, or exploding. The documents also include results of contemporary investigations into residual copper powder found in some areas where sightings occurred. A number of these inquiries became part of the basis for Project Grudge, which gathered reports of unidentified flying objects from various military installations and is also represented in this collection.
The records were released to the public through the PURSUE declassification by the Department of War.
