Detail

Under the PURSUE review of historical UAP materials, the Department of War (DOW) opened a case to investigate a NASA photograph from the Apollo 17 mission, taken in December 1972. Upon magnification, the image reveals three dots arranged in a triangular formation in the lower right quadrant of the lunar sky.

Although the photo has been released and discussed previously by attentive observers, no consensus exists about the nature of the anomaly. New preliminary U.S. government analysis suggests the feature may be the result of a physical object in the scene. As part of the investigation, the government has obtained the original Apollo 17 film, and the full results of the combined NASA and DOW analysis are to be released when completed.
